Embracing Distinct Architectural Features

Our Blue Ridge home remodel in Seattle is truly one of a kind. With rounded walls, unexpected architectural cutouts, and incredible water views, this home already had so much character to work with. Our goal was to embrace those unique architectural details while creating a cohesive, comfortable home that felt personal to the homeowner.

A Living Room with a View

The living room is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase stunning views of the water. The home sits so close to the shoreline that you almost feel like you’re on a cruise ship! With a view this beautiful, we wanted the interior design to complement the surroundings without competing with them.

The homeowner is well-traveled and has collected meaningful art and objects from around the world. We used the living room étagère as a focal point to display many of these special pieces, giving the space a collected and personal feel. A modern curved sofa complements the rounded walls and architectural lines throughout the home while creating a comfortable gathering space to sit, relax, and take in the view.

A Bold Kitchen Design

In the kitchen, we leaned into the home’s bold architecture with striking Zebrawood cabinetry, dramatic black countertops, and a rustic white subway tile backsplash. This combination brings warmth and texture to the space while allowing the curved cabinetry and beautiful hardwood floors to stand out. One of our favorite details is the black-framed picture window, which creates the perfect view of the water and makes the landscape feel like part of the kitchen itself.

A Dining Room That Connects

The dining room connects the kitchen and living room, helping the main living spaces feel cohesive while still giving each room its own identity. For this space, we worked with Phillip Jeffries to create a custom mural wallcovering featuring the homeowner’s favorite flower, the cherry blossom. The mural adds softness, color, and a deeply personal element to the home.

The Essence of Unique Design

This Seattle home remodel is a perfect example of why we love working with spaces that have their own distinct personality. Rather than designing around the home’s unusual architecture, we embraced it—using curved furnishings, rich materials, custom details, and the homeowner’s own collection to create an interior that feels layered, personal, and completely unique.
